Composed of 9 wooden shapes, 3 wooden bases, and 18 double-sided cardboard squares, this educational toy is designed to familiarize children with the connection between concrete three-dimensional geometric shapes and the two-dimensional shadows that they project.
Starting from basic shape-shadow recognition, the child will progress to more complex relationships that form the basis of mathematics and drawing.
A small child will first match a wooden piece to the corresponding shape on the wooden base or on a cardboard square. Next, he/she will look for a cardboard square that matches the adjacent sides of the wooden piece on the base to observe how the shadow of a three-dimensional object changes when it is viewed from a different side.
Instructions for different levels of play are included in the box.
